Most geographic information systems work with either a database or a binary data file.


GIS working with database are easy and inexpensive to maintain, because they provide standard ways of working with database. At the same time they are slaw, because in relational database geographic data are stored in different tables and it’s necessary to collect them from those tables each time before to use.


GIS working with binary data files are fast, because data in those binary files already grouped geographically. However they are difficult and expensive to maintain because there is no easy way to access and edit data structures in those binary files and special tools and skills are necessary for it.


G/Technology works both with database and binary data file. All the data modifications are done in relational database and recently modified data are available in relational database also. Modified data are periodically being published into data display cache binary file. So, the most of the data are available for the system in data display cache binary file which makes system fast. At he same time, all the data modifications are done directly in database, which makes system easy and inexpensive to maintain.
